the game ramps up in difficulty, the one tip I can give you is to maintain your momentum as best you can

every elevator (SAVE YOURSELF) is a save point which saves progress between sessions, the only way to go back to the beginning is to delete aculocus.dat (should be in the same folder as the executable after you save once)
